Are you currently in the place where you want to be in life? Are you facing challenges in your life right now? Do you feel like you have too much on your plate? Do you keep pondering about the changes you need or want to make to improve your life? Are you in a slump? Are you tired of repeating the same mistakes?
Let's start here (my recommendation):
Regarding last year, write down your top three favorite memories, accomplishments, things that brought peace, and things that brought happiness. What are you most grateful for in 2023?
Then, identify what held you back and what drained your energy. List your failures and how you learned from them. Although it might not be enjoyable, identifying the learning lesson can be beneficial.
Who do you aspire to be? How do you envision your life moving forward? To become the person you aspire to be, you must let go of your past self, allowing you to move forward. There is no space for you to grow, achieve, and aspire if you don't make space for the new you. What do you see on your list that you can change or increase to get what you need?
Shift your attitude and mindset from where you were to what and where you want to be moving forward. How do you see yourself? What will you do to be that person you envision?
You must transform your attitude and embody the person you aspire to become. Who is that?
If you are a Monster and Coca-Cola drinker, consuming bags of chips and preservative-laden foods while getting zero exercise, but desire to be healthy and improve your physical and mental health, you must embody that person. What does the healthy you look like?
For me, it would be eating more nutritious items that don't come in a box or a can. Learn some new recipes that are easy and inexpensive to start this journey. Use my phone to schedule a daily or weekly fitness routine so you cannot make excuses like "I forgot" or "time got away from me."
Become that person by manifesting it. Focus on each step, moving in the direction you want to go, and do not make excuses. Don't let someone else change your course. And keep in mind, just like a staircase, focus on each step and not the stairs.
If you believe and say you are unhealthy, poor, stressed out, unlucky, and tired, then you will always be those things. Shift your thinking to what you want to be. Positive affirmations are essential here.
Years ago, I would repeat this affirmation every single day, several times a day: I am happy, healthy, wealthy, and wise. **And no, by wealthy, I do not mean rich in money. I mean wealthy as an abundance of friends, health, and life. An abundance of money is nice, but it requires responsibility to manage it effectively.
Find what works for you. What motivates you? What brings peace and a smile to your face?
Have you been to a new place where no one knows you? Go to that place and embody the person you want to be. Seriously, BE THAT PERSON. No one there knows who you were before this reset; be that person now. Practice being that person until it is you, all you.
Shift your identity and reinvent yourself with consistency and focus until this is who you are without focus.
Practice gratitude and show grace to others and yourself. Look for the good and positive things in your life and shift your focus and energy towards them. By focusing on the good, you will naturally attract more positive experiences.
Conversely, if you focus on the negative, you will only attract more negativity. Which sounds more enjoyable to you?
How and what changes do you need to make to start your reset?
Start your day by focusing on yourself. Begin with your physical needs, such as showering, brushing your teeth, and getting dressed. This sets the tone for the rest of your day. Make your bed, even if it's not perfect. Take a walk, short or long, first thing in the morning. Establish a self-care routine that will help you to have the energy to care for your family and do your job. Remember your vitamins. Speak to your doctor about appropriate vitamins or medicines you may need.
Next, plan a day or time to get out of the house. You can visit the library or window shop, attend a workout class or pottery class, or visit a friend.
To help improve your mindset, try changing your environment.
If you're a parent, schedule some self-care time before your child wakes up. You can only be a good parent if you've cared for yourself first. It's like trying to pour water from an empty bucket. So, before you take care of others, make sure to fill your bucket.
One good habit you can develop is to set aside time to unwind at the end of your day; you can allocate an hour or any other time that works best for you.
Seek books and podcasts focusing on positivity, well-being, and self-care. I like to listen to e-books in the evenings and podcasts in the mornings. Start a journal; journaling can be quite cathartic. And there are some cute journals out there that you can download for free or purchase in a store. Check them out.
The key is to establish a routine that works for you consistently. Consistency, hard work, and perseverance are the keys to success.
Let me know how you're doing.
Be happy, healthy and safe!
