. . . . When You’re Out of Time
Let’s be honest—most of us are living life at full speed. Between work, family, social obligations, and the constant ding of notifications, it can feel like there’s absolutely no time to spare for ourselves. But here’s the thing: wellness and self-care aren’t optional add-ons to our already overpacked schedules. They’re essentials. And the good news is, you don’t need hours of free time to practice them.
Think about it—how often do we convince ourselves that self-care requires grand gestures? An elaborate spa day, a two-hour workout, or a weekend getaway. While those things are amazing when we can swing them, wellness is really about the small, consistent habits that keep us grounded. It’s that five-minute morning stretch, a cup of tea before bed, or even just sitting in the car for a few quiet moments before heading into the chaos.
The key is intentionality. Start small. Set aside 10 minutes—yes, just 10—to do something that fills your cup. That could mean journaling, listening to your favorite podcast, or simply walking around the block. The trick is to treat it like any other appointment. Put it on your calendar, and don’t let anything bump it. After all, if we can carve out time for everyone else, surely we can carve out a little for ourselves too.
Here’s a little trick I use: pair self-care with something you already have to do. Waiting for dinner to cook? Do a quick breathing exercise or throw on a face mask. Stuck in carpool? Listen to an audiobook that makes you happy. The idea isn’t to add more pressure to your day but to sneak in moments that make you feel more like you.
Remember, self-care doesn’t have to look a certain way. It’s not about what you’re doing but how it makes you feel. If it brings you peace, recharges your energy, or simply makes you smile, it counts.
So, let’s make a pact: This week, find one moment—just one—where you can pause and check in with yourself. Even when life feels like there isn’t a second to spare, I promise, there’s always time for you.
Be happy, healthy and safe!
