Evening Reset

The Key to Restful Nights

Have you ever flopped into bed at the end of the day, completely exhausted, only to find your mind spinning like a hamster on a wheel? I’ve been there more times than I can count. For the longest time, I thought collapsing into bed after a chaotic day was normal. Spoiler alert: it’s not.

That’s when I decided I needed an evening reset. Think of it as a little time carved out just for you—a way to transition from the busyness of the day to a calmer, more peaceful night. It’s not just about better sleep (though that’s a huge bonus); it’s about giving yourself permission to slow down and just be.

For me, it all starts with unplugging. I know, it’s hard. Scrolling through Instagram or bingeing a show feels so tempting, but stepping away from the screens is magic. Once the phone is down, I like to set the mood—a candle, dimmed lights, and maybe a soft playlist in the background. Suddenly, the whole house feels calm, even if it wasn’t five minutes ago.

I’ll be honest, the physical part of my reset might be my favorite. Some nights it’s a warm bath that feels like an instant hug, while other nights I’ll do a few stretches to shake off all that tension. And let’s not forget skincare—there’s something so satisfying about taking my time with it. It’s like telling myself, "You deserve this."

Then comes the journaling or a gratitude list. Nothing fancy, just a little time to dump out all the random thoughts bouncing around in my head. I’ll jot down a few things I’m grateful for or even tomorrow’s to-do list so I don’t spend the night stressing about what I might forget.

Here’s the thing: an evening reset doesn’t have to be perfect or time-consuming. It’s not about checking off boxes—it’s about creating a little ritual that feels good for you. Maybe it’s sipping herbal tea, reading a chapter of your book, or even cuddling with your dog (Lucy loves this part of my evening).

So, what would your reset look like? It could be as simple as five minutes of quiet or as luxurious as a full-blown spa night. The key is to make it yours and stick with it. I promise, you’ll wake up feeling so much more refreshed—and who doesn’t want that?

What’s something you’d include in your evening reset? Let me know—I’m always on the hunt for new ideas to make my nights even more relaxing.

Here’s to ending the day on a high note and waking up ready to take on the world!

Be happy, healthy, and safe!
