Things To Do Before Buying New Clothes (& Shoes)

Do you want to start your day with confidence and ease? Are you tired of feeling stressed and overwhelmed when choosing your daily outfit? Your closet can be your sanctuary. Take the time to sort through it, remove any clutter, and keep only the items that make you feel comfortable and confident. By doing so, you can streamline your mornings and start your day with a positive mindset. Remember, you are in control of your closet, and the effort you put in will pay off with a more organized and peaceful life.

Take inventory of your closet by removing any items that you haven't worn or no longer wear. You can donate or sell these clothes. Next, assign a section of your closet for clothes that you wear frequently, such as once a week. Sort out the clothes you wear all the time and create a separate section for seasonal clothes. Take inventory of what's left and consider getting the clothes that don't fit well adjusted by a tailor. Finally, decide what to do with any remaining items. Try on the clothes you're unsure about and determine if you'll wear them if they're tailored or if you've forgotten about them.

Follow the same process for your shoes, accessories, and other items. Once you've sorted through everything, take the items you no longer need to a resale shop, consignment store, Facebook Marketplace, or reputable donation outlet.

Remember, only keep the clothes that you wear frequently and are comfortable in. Determine your clothing style and color palette to make better purchases in the future. It takes time and effort, but you can do it!

During this process, you may have realized that some key essential items are missing. Make a list of these items while keeping in mind what is already in your closet.

Now, move to your dresser or cubby for your undergarments (undies, bra, slips, camisoles, socks, stockings, etc.). Remove the items you no longer like, wear, want, or need. Add any essential items that are missing to your list.

By now, your closet and dresser should be clean and organized, making it easy for you to get dressed every day without any stress or wasted time.

Can you think of something that should be added to this list? Or, better yet, share before and after photos of your success.  Please share: andrea@andreamichele.com
