A Perfect Getaway of Beauty, Relaxation, and Family
There’s something truly magical about San Diego. From its breathtaking coastline to its historic landmarks, every moment of my trip was filled with beauty, relaxation, and cherished time with family.
Day 1: Exploring Point Loma and Its Stunning Views
The first full day of my trip was nothing short of perfection. With completely clear skies and mild temperatures, it was the ideal weather to be outside and soak in the beauty of San Diego.
Our first stop was the cliffs and tide pools at Point Loma, offering uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean. The serene and mesmerizing trails made it easy to lose track of time while simply taking in the moment. One of the most incredible sights was looking out and seeing Mexico—clear as could be.
Next, we visited the Cabrillo National Monument, home to the impressive statue of Juan RodrÃguez Cabrillo, the first European to set foot on the West Coast of the United States. From this vantage point, we had stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay. The waters were dotted with sailboats, and the backdrop of Coronado and the distant mountains made for an awe-inspiring scene.
Our next destination was the Assistant Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse was a highlight, offering a glimpse into the lives of the lighthouse keepers and their families. The day ended with a delicious sushi dinner— a perfect way to wrap up such an adventurous and scenic day.
Day 2: A Day of Relaxation
After a full day of walking and exploring, a much-needed full-body massage was in order. The morning was spent indulging in pure relaxation, allowing my muscles to recover from the previous day’s activities.
Post-massage, I stumbled upon a charming outdoor coffee and tea hut. Sipping my tea in the warm afternoon sun, I felt completely at peace. It was the kind of simple, beautiful moment that made me appreciate the slower pace of travel.
Day 3: Coronado Island – A Favorite Escape
Coronado Island has always been one of my favorite places to visit, and this trip was no exception. We started the day with a leisurely walk along the beach, taking in the ocean breeze and soft sands.
A visit to the historic Hotel del Coronado was a must. I was excited to see the recent updates to this iconic landmark, which never ceases to amaze me with its rich history and timeless charm.
Lunch was enjoyed outside, followed by visits to a few peaceful parks overlooking the bay and Coronado Bridge. The scenery was simply breathtaking. We ended the day celebrating my dad’s birthday at The Melting Pot in downtown San Diego— a wonderful evening filled with laughter, great food, and family.
Day 4: Balboa Park & More Relaxation
The next morning, my sister headed back home to Colorado, while Holly and I took things slow, spending time at Balboa Park. It was a perfect way to unwind, appreciating the park’s beauty and atmosphere without any rush.
With a few days left in San Diego, I look forward to soaking in the last bit of rest and relaxation before heading back home. This trip has been a beautiful blend of adventure, family time, and moments of tranquility—exactly what I needed.
Be happy, healthy, and safe!
